Nestled in the picturesque hills of Levizzano Rangone, Trattoria Del Colle is a true culinary treasure that shines a spotlight on traditional Modenese and Emilia-Romagna cuisine. With a rich history spanning over 200 years, this charming trattoria offers an authentic Italian dining experience that delicately balances rustic comfort with exquisite craftsmanship.
The menu is a celebration of handcrafted regional specialties, each dish bursting with vibrant flavors and textures that evoke the heart of Italian home cooking. Guests rave about the Prosciutto di Parma con Gnocco fritto, where the salty, melt-in-your-mouth prosciutto pairs perfectly with the warm, pillowy fried dough. Another standout is the Tortellini alla Panna and Tortelloni Burro e Salvia, both made fresh in-house, delivering a silky, luscious bite that speaks to generations of culinary mastery.
If you prefer heavier fare, the Guancialino al Forno with tigelle (small, soft bread typical of the region) is a must-try—slow-cooked to tender perfection with rich, savory undertones that linger on the palate. Desserts like the Sorbetto di Amarena offer a refreshing and tart finish, balancing the meal with subtle elegance.
The dining atmosphere embodies warm, familial Italian hospitality. The trattoria’s rustic charm invites you to unwind either inside its cozy, inviting space or on a breezy patio that lets you savor your meal amid the tranquil sounds of Emilia-Romagna’s rolling countryside. Patrons frequently mention the attentive, friendly service, which enhances the overall experience and makes every guest feel genuinely welcomed.
Trattoria Del Colle also boasts a carefully curated selection of local wines, perfect for pairing with your meal and exploring the rich viticultural traditions of the region. This thoughtful wine list reflects the passion and pride the establishment holds for local produce and flavors.
Accessibility might be a bit of a journey, but the food, ambiance, and heartfelt service more than justify the trip. As one guest described it, this is “down-home cooking” that truly captures the spirit of the Italian countryside and leaves an indelible mark on your culinary memory.
Whether you’re a traveler seeking to savor authentic Modenese dishes or a local looking for a nostalgic taste of tradition, Trattoria Del Colle promises a deeply satisfying dining experience that is as heartfelt as it is delicious. With its impressive lineage, exquisite handmade dishes, and genuine warmth, it’s no surprise that visitors leave with plans to return.

We are traveling in Emilia-Romagna and on our way to Fattoria Moretto winery. We searched for a Trattoria Tippiche and chose this gem. We had the Prociutto di Parma con Gnocco fritto to start which was absolutely delicious. The tortellini alla penna were our favorite and the Tortelloni burro e salvia. Everything cooked to perfection and handmade. They also have a beautiful local wine selection. Fantastic service and very welcoming. Charming, casual, rustic, local clientele, excellent food. Accommodating to children. The views are spectacular from the hill where the restaurant is located...no outdoor seating that I saw but they have a portion of the restaurant with very large sliding windows wherewe enjoyed the view on a hot day. Definitely go!

Wow! The place exists over 200 years. The expertise is evident in every detail. We loved the pasta and the steak. We loved the deserts. The service was wonderful. Great value for money. Recommended.

Down home cooking in the hills just outside the city, perfect for eat while enjoying the fresh breeze in the patio outside. Try the Guancialino al forno with Tigelle and the Marmellata di duroni, close with Sorbetto di amarena.

A restaurant which occupies a very special place in my family's memories. I would often come here as a child with my parents to order tortellini con brodo, and this year I had the chance to do so once again. Without paying too much (€20 per person) I had this traditional local Modenese dish, as well as a generous serving of gnocco fritto, tigelle and all sorts of affettato (plus dessert). The taste of the food was fantastic, and the view was marvellous as always. I would absolutely recommend this place to others!
